New Fabric: August

I hope everyone had a good weekend, Kayla and her family took off this week to go camping, and she left me here to do the blog this week.

I just want to share with you some of the new collections that have come into the shop lately, there has been a few.

I'm going to share my favorite new collection first. I'm pretty sure Esther, Kayla nd I all have a few projects planed out of this collection. Songbook by Fancy That Designs. I just love the classic hymns in this one. I plan to make a quilt for my fiance's grandma and also a few things for my new kitchen, like hot pads, a table runner, and valances.

The Large Multi Panel

Small Multi Panel

Small Navy Panel. She also designed this one in the aqua

Another new fun line we got in is Magic of Serengeti by RJR Fabrics.
This collection is so fun and wild when it is all put together, but the colors and prints are also accentuated when you break it down into the color groupings. Kayla plans to make a Tumbler quilt using all the prints and a couple solids.

We have one more new collection from RJR, Pond Life. I just love the frogs in this line. Come into the store or check it out online to get a better look at all the prints and the colors.

The Christmas fabrics have started to trickle in, and it is always good to get a head start on those projects.

First we have Starflower Christmas from Create Joy Project. I love this one because it is "Christmasy", but you can keep it out all winter, not just for the month of December. I know Esther has a table runner picked from this one.

Next we have Christmas Morning from Lella Boutique. This collection is a very classy Christmas collection, having the reds and greens. I love the large panel that they have with this collection that looks to have a pieced border around it, but the blocks are actually just printed on the panel. This would make a super fast Christmas gift for a friend, the panel just needs to be quilted and bound.

We also have a few more Christmas collections in early precuts. so keep checking that 'Early Release Precut' tab on the website.

We have precuts from Hustle and Bustle from Basic Grey and the yardage should be in the shop soon.

And we also have early precuts from Home Sweet Holidays by Deb Strain.

All these collections are so much more amazing in person, so be sure to stop in the store to check them out, or check our website to get a better look at all the individual lines.

New Fabrics and Projects

We have gotten several new shipments of fabric in during the past few weeks and all the collections are amazing. I mentioned last week that we received 10 new digital panels, and several of us are working on projects with them. Carrie sent me a sneak peak of what was in the 8 boxes she got today from Art Gallery, some of it is new blenders and the rest is new collections, and I shared a picture of them at the end of the post.
We also have a couple new Moda Lines in stock, most notably Lollipop Garden by Lella Boutique and Nova by Basic Grey. Both are perfect for any of those spring and summer projects you have planned, but are quite different in appearance.
Lollipop Garden has a palette of soft colors and prints, while Nova is a lot more bold in both its geometrics, florals and colors. We are busy getting some precuts together for both collections and are waiting on patterns for both to get the kits ready.
We have a few new designer bolts from Hoffman in stock, These particular ones are by Latifah Saafir and I love how fun they are and the throwback feel they have. The collection is called 1985. I am using the Macaroon bundle mixed with some Me and You Batiks to make a popsicle quilt, and it has been super fun so far.

Enchanted Lake is a collection from RJR and is very elegant. Carrie is currently working on a project with this line and a pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew called Cascade.

Speaking of Carrie she finished up this quilt for a friend last night from Homegrown By Deb Strain. She modified the Double Slice Layer Cake pattern to use the panels and I think it turned out really well.

I just finished up this quilt, Sunny Side Up by Corey Yoder, it is a Moda Kit and we have a few left in stock. Half of the blocks are pieced while the other half are from a panel.
I am also working on my Wolf Abstractions Quilt by Violet Craft, and I have just two segments left to stitch up and than I will be ready to assemble it.
I took some time this week to make a new springy Handbag and Wallet for myself and I absolutely love it. Both are patterns that we did in our Bag Club at the store, the Classic Carryall Handbag and the Roadtrip wallet. And I used fabric from an Art Gallery Collection called Art District.

My 5 year old also made his own quilt this past weekend, he picked the fabrics himself, cut the squares on the Accuquilt Cutter, laid out the blocks, sewed them together and did the long arming by himself. He did an amazing job, and his quilt turned out really well!

What are you working on right now? Are you finishing up some projects or do you have the itch to make something for spring?

Kayla
Just a reminder that we will be closed next week Friday, April 19, for Good Friday, and I will not be blogging on that date either. We will be open on Saturday, April 20.

New Fabric

There have been a lot of boxes delivered since the start of the New Year. And I must say they have been opened to reveal some gorgeous new fabrics.
We have 5 new collections from Art Gallery, a new Moda line, one from RJR, another from Studio E, and a collection from Benartex as well. Some of these companies are not super well know names, but we have carried there fabrics in our shop for quite some time now.
From Art Gallery we have Sun Kissed designed by Maureen Cracknell, this collection brings back all the perfect summer memories. The bright blue pool water, tiled pool decks, blooming flowers, and the perfect floral sundress.

Pat Bravo has designed 40 fabric lines in the past 14 years, and her latest brings all her favorites and best sellers into one gorgeous collections that is Legendary. The bold fuschia pink, emerald green and mustard yellow mix beautifully together, in large and small print florals and various geometric designs.
Aura was designed by Matthew Bordeaux after his recent trip to Hawaii with his daughter. Everything from the colors to the prints bring you away on an Island adventure. I personally have fallen in love with the turtle print on the purple background. It is so perfect.

Art Gallery will often take prints from their various designers and combine them together into mini themed collections. Silk Road and Art District are two of these Fusion Collections.

Silk Road is a collection centered around the ancient asian arts of brushwork, ink and fiberworks. The prints as well the red, black and white coloring make this an elegant fusion.
Art District is just what it sounds like, a collection themed around every cities bright and colorful Art District with the occasional cat and ice cream cone thrown into the mix.

Gingiber has developed a new line for Moda. This one is called Farm Fresh. It has panels of farm animals, and a variety of prints in red, teal, white, grey and black. We also have 3 different patterns available for this fabric and they are all really fun. Esther is hoping to refresh her kitchen for spring with this line.

From RJR we have a new line called Retro Road Trip by Sue Marsh. This collection looks pretty much exactly as how I pictured it when I heard the name. The retro camping trailers, the fun Diner Road signs and the colors all work together to create this fun line! I am contemplating making new valences for my kitchen windows with the Diner Signs Print.
Into the Woods is a new collection from Studio E. It is a new take on the popular Wood Land Theme, combining bright colors with modern black and white prints. The panel in this line is very cool, and needs only a border or two to make a nice quilt.
From Benartex we have a line called My Happy Place, and brings together our favourite items from our sewing rooms. Prints with sewing machines, buttons and words of wisdom in pinks blues, yellow and greens bring a smile to your face.
As a bonus I have one more collection to share, this one is called Whisper, and features gold, black and white prints that are all quite soft.
As always there are even more new collections in store and on their way.
Carrie and Taylor spent the majority of their Christmas Break from school changing up the location of almost every single bolt of fabric in our shop, so make sure you come in to see all the changes that have happened as well.
I wish you a great weekend, we are going to spend ours trying to get rid of the Flu Bug that is slowly making its way through each member of our house,
Kayla

Fabric Friday

We have received piles of boxes in these past few weeks, so I thought tonight I would share some of the new collections that have arrived.
We have two new capsule collections from Art Gallery, one called Craft Bound and the other is Star Gazer.
S
SCraft bound is a colorful collection of blacks and whites mixed with yellows, pinks and aqua. The prints are inspired by traditional crafts like mosaics, embroidery and tapestry, and they are gorgeous.
Star Gazer is such a cute line of fabric, so cute in fact that I told my husband when I got home that we should try for another baby, he shut down that idea pretty quick, so I will have to be content to look at in store. It features little animals lost in space and exploring the universe. With the black and white and just a touch of blue and mint the colors are soft and airy, perfect for a nursery.
S
We have also received the final shipment of Art Gallery Basics. We have already sold out of a few of the solids and they have already been re-ordered.
S
Speaking of basics, we also have the Grunge Seeing Stars and from Hoffman 4 designer bolts which contain 8 fat quarters of blenders in a 2 meter cut. We have grey, black, sand and purple available right now.

S
Also from Hoffman we have a new Digital Print called Zookeeper. During the shop hop, Esther will be doing some demos on the stars that she plans to use with this panel to make a quilt.
S
From RJR we have another digitally printed collection, this one called Fleur Couture. This collection is so beautiful and is inspired by blue jeans on a warm summer day. Esther has plans for a bag and wallet using a few of the prints. It would also make a beautiful quilt.
S
The collection that I am most excited about is Clover Hollow by Sherri and Chelsi. It is once again a beautifully done collection, I have a bag for myself all planned out for it, and I ordered patterns today to make a quilt as well.
S
Our fall and Christmas fabrics are out on display right now as well. We have Autumn Love by Lori Holt and 101 Maple Street by Bunny Hill Designs. We have kits coming for 101 Maple Street so be on the lookout for those.
As always there is lots more in store so come check them out in person. Tomorrow (Saturday, September 15) would be a great day to visit. It is National Sew a Jelly Roll Day, and all Moda Jelly Rolls will be on sale!
