New Samples

Happy Monday. I am back from our family camping trip. It was cold for most of the trip but it was great to spend a week with my husband, boys and extended family members.

Today I want to share with you some of the new samples that we have hanging in the shop. Esther, Carrie and I have all finished up several projects in the last few weeks and there are several new quilts hanging on our walls which means there are also plenty of new kits available as well. Clicking on any of the photos will take you directly to the kit on our website.

We have a few new Fig Tree samples in the shop. Esther stitched up this one using Catalina and the pattern Chintz.

I made this quilt using Strawberries and Rhubarb and the pattern is called Sweet Pea by The Pattern Basket.

Esther is working on a Pumpkin quilt using Pumpkins and Blossoms and I believe it just needs to be quilted and bound and than it will be in the shop as well. We do have kits available now for it.

Esther just finished her Scrappy Happy Village Quilt using Cozy Up by Corey Yoder. The pattern is a free download from Moda Bakeshop. The yardage of Cozy Up is not available yet but we have Early Precuts of the collection and the pattern calls for a Layer Cake and some Solids. Kits are available and yardage should be shipping soon.

Carrie finished up this fun Tumbler Quilt using Across the Universe. The quilt finishes at 66"x80" and is the perfect size for a little boy or girl that loves monsters and outer space. I have a 6 year old that just loves this fabric!

Flea Market Fresh is a fun line inspired by Flea Market finds. I put together this quilt which is a free pattern from Moda. It went together fairly quickly and I love how the side borders are different from the top and bottom, we always seem to do the borders all in the same print, but this is a great option too!

Carrie finished up her Ava Kate quilt and it is hanging in the shop too. There is one kit left for this quilt. I love how the mix of plus blocks and solid squares and how well they show off all the prints in this collection!

We also have two new and quick Summer Quilts in the shop. Esther made them both as beach blankets, one to use here in Alberta, and a second to take to Florida.
They both go together really quick, one is a tumbler the other just 10" squares.

Have you been getting any quilting in this summer?

What we are working on

Happy Monday, can you believe we are already in the last week of February!

Today I want to share with you some projects that Esther, Carrie and I are working on.

Esther has several different projects on the go at the moment.

She is preparing for our first Bag Club Session and is almost finished with her Double Flip Shoulder Bag.

Tabletastic starts next week and her sample for that one is ready to be quilted.

She has a few Quilt Alongs that she is participating in:

The Bonnie and Camille Quilt Bee that I am hosting through our blog, Esther has one of the kits using the Shine On Collection by Bonnie and Camille, there is one or two left in the shop if you want to jump in on this. (click here to purchase)

Stitch Pink which we are starting on our Chicken Feed Quilts Facebook Live next month

And a Mystery Quilt Along on the Creative Grid Girls Facebook Group

She also has this fun sample ready for the longarm, it uses Snow Day by Mr. Domestic for Art Gallery and we will have some kits made up when her quilt is finished.

Carrie has several on the go too.
Her quilt using Maureen Cracknells collection Homebody is nearly finished, the pattern is called Trinkets and we have kits available (click here for a link to the kit and yardage)
Her Garden Sampler BOM also through this blog is going well, it's not to late to join in on this one and we have kits available here. The kit is availble with either a soft yellow background like Carrie is doing or White background

Tuesday is Carrie's day off and she hopes to get a long ways on this quilt tomorrow

I have been working on finishing off several projects, but I have several more planned.
The Maggie Quilt using Kaikoura is nearly finished, just a small outer border and than quilting. Kits will be available soon.

This Infinite Hearts Quilt should be finished this week, I have just a little bit of binding left. As soon as the patterns arrive we will have two kits available (thats all the fabric that was left) to purchase.

Next up on the binding pile is this Half Hexie Quilt using Hello Sunshine by Abi Hall, kits will be available for this one too, with all the half hexies precut.

And I hope to start this one next, Joyful Stars using Ombre Fairy Dust

I hope you are getting some quilting time in, even if it just a few minutes a day

What are we working on?

Hello everyone. Today I want to share with you some projects that we have been working on.

As you may have seen last week, Esther just finished up a large assortment of table runners. She is also nearly finished her Half Square Triangle Sampler using Early Bird by Bonnie and Camille. Esther is also working on a project for herself. She is using Art Gallery Fabrics and the Meadowland Quilt Pattern by Then Came June. I am loving the green fabric she is using for the background! Aside from this she is working on finishing up some older projects that have been in the works for quite some time.

Carrie spent some time secret sewing and surprised me with a quilt that she had made for me! She used Summer Sweet by Sherri and Chelsi, my favorite designer duo, and used a pattern by Chelsi called Star Crossed, because I am a huge fan of star quilts.
She is also participating in a quilt along. The pattern name is Homecoming and is by Lo and Behold Stitchery, she couldn't decide which fabric combination she liked better so she is making two!

I have a couple things on the go currently. I am quilting along on the Hearts At Home Quilt (I am using Breeze by Zen Chic), and have half my blocks finished for that one. I am also working on my Summer Sweet Gelato Quilt which we have kits available for in our shop.
I started a new project using Daisy Mae by Poppie Cotton on the weekend, and since I am doing a Facebook Live video tomorrow on the Stripology Ruler from Creative Grids, I should make a couple sample blocks tonight.
Are you getting any quilting done right now, or are you finding yourself busy with other things?

What we are making

It is time again to share some of the projects all of us at the shop are currently working on. We often get asked who makes our samples and if we do the sewing at the shop or at our home. In answer to that, nearly all the employees make quilts for the shop, and we all work on them at home on our own time. When the fabric is gone, it is up to the maker what they do with the project they made. Some of us give them away as gifts, sell them, or donate them to various organizations.

So here we go with our current works in progress:

Esther is using the Hearts at Home Pattern by Chelsi Stratton, the Creative Grids Log Cabin Ruler and Just Red Fabric by Zen Chic to make these adorable Blocks. She is also teaching a class on the Log Cabin Rulers in a couple weeks if you would like to learn how to make them too. You can sign up for that here.
Esther is also working on a fun quilt using Llama Love by Deb Strain, and her Lori Holt Vintage Housewife blocks are coming along nicely!

Tammy is working on some super cute runners right now. She is using a couple Accuquilt GO Dies to make the cutting super quick and easy, and all the fabrics are from the Summer Sweet Collection by Sherri & Chelsi.

Laura is finishing her Loveliness Quilt using Sugarcreek by Corey Yoder, she hopes to have it completed by Saturday so we can put it on display. We have kits in the shop for the quilt if you want to make one too!

Carrie picked out a new project on Thursday using a Digital Panel and some Hoffman Batiks for coordinates. The pattern she chose for it is called Rail Run by Mountain Peek Creations, I am pretty excited to see this one finished.

Jenn is working on a Sew Kind of Wonderful Quilt using LuLu Lane by Corey Yoder. This one will also be available as a class when she is finished, so be sure to watch for more details on that.

I am about halfway finished the blocks for a new sample using the Botanica Fabric Collection by Crystal Manning and a pattern called Shortcake by Cluck Cluck Sew. Hopefully I can get the quilt top done soon and get it on the Longarm this week or next.

I also cut out a Llama Love quilt this afternoon. This is the boxed kit that came in from Moda, and I fell in love with it the minute I seen it.
What are you working on right now? Are you starting something new or working on finishing up some older projects?

This afternoon we had a cup of tea at my Dads parents who are in their late 70s and tomorrow my Grandpa on my Moms side is celebrating his 88th Birthday so I am planning to take my boys over to his  place to celebrate with him and my Grandma. I am so thankful to have both sets of my grandparents alive, well and living close by, it is such a blessing to be able to spend time with them, and I often take it for granted.
Have a good week, and be sure to check out the classes tab on our website for the classes taking place this month.

What are we making?

I have some upcoming events to share with you tonight as well as a look at what some of us are working on here at the shop.
This week Saturday is Support Your Local Quilt Shop Day. You are all such wonderful supporters of our shop, but if you around on Saturday come out and say hi. We will have some yummy treats to snack on, Esther will be doing a couple demos throughout the day and there will be a draw to win a Gift Basket.
In March we will be hosting a talk by our Fabric Rep for Art Gallery. He will give a little presentation on their production and designers. As soon as we have the two session times nailed down and registration is open I will let everyone know.

Our fabric for the Vintage Housewife Quilt Along by Lori Holt has finally arrived, and Jenn was busy cutting the fabric for the kits today. Tomorrow and Saturday Carrie will work out the notions and extra little ribbons and buttons that are needed and get the kits priced. The kits should be already to go Monday morning, just in time for you to sew along. I know Esther is planning to take the first three blocks with her to Florida so she can work on it while sitting by the lake.
If you want more information on this sew along, and to download the guides and binder printouts just click this link.

Now onto what some of are busy working on.
Carrie just finished up this really cool Elephant Quilt for the shop, it is a pattern from Missouri Star. She is now working on a Backpack, almost finished a quilt top from Goldenrod, and diving into a new quilt using the Sailboat Pattern from Chelsi Stratton and Enchanted Voyage Fabrics from Maureen Cracknell.

Esther has been super busy lately. She made this tumbler from an Art Gallery Collection by Maureen Cracknell, as well as a new Penny Inn wallet for herself.
She also made a queen quilt, a fun twin, and is currently binding a cute baby quilt from Pine Hollow Lullaby which just came in.

I have been working on a gift for someone that I cant share quite yet. And I am also working on a backpack for my son who turns five in a couple weeks and is off to Kindergarten in the fall.

I am also starting a new project with the Ombre Bloom fabric. And I finished up my Hearts Table Runner for Valentines Day.

What are you working on right now?

New Samples

How has your week been? Mine was really good, my two oldest are back at school and we are figuring out our new routines and schedules nicely. My 4 year old is a little lost without his older brothers so I spent some time hanging out with him having scooter races, nerf gun wars, and working with him in an activity book and on his Little Passports Subscription box that I got for him. I also have been getting a lot of quilting done these past few weeks, as have Carrie and Esther.
As some of you may know I have promised to have a Christmas Bed Quilt done for each of my 4 boys by November. I finished up this one last weekend for Tucker, and he agreed that it could hang in the store until Marshall's Birthday which is November 1. I will be making kits for it on Tuesday. It is a fabric line called Snowy Wishes, and I based the pattern on a free download from Benartex but made some changes to make it work for this fabric.
Marshall's quilt is halfway done, and the ones for Chandler and Easton are still just a thought in my mind, but I still have almost 2 months to get them done.
I made this quilt using Grid from Art Gallery this past spring but finally got it bound this week. The pattern is called Turning Twenty and goes together really quickly.

I absolutely love this baby quilt using a collection called Rocky Raccoon by Stof and it two was a really quick sew, just two evenings for me. I made kits for it today, and there are 3 border options all three are the same print just different color, blue (like mine), grey or green.
I also got the top finished for this camping quilt, but I am waiting for some red 90" cuddle to arrive before quilting it. I showed it to my husband when it was done, and he said that is really cool but aren't you a couple weeks late? I told him I was just early for next year, and now I wouldn't have to rush to get it done for our next trip in July ;).  Kits are available with either a blue or a grey border.

Esther and Carrie have both made a number of quilts using the digital panels by Hoffman. The detail and color on these panels is incredible and we have so many to choose from in our shop. We have nearly all of the Call of The  Wild panels, and a wide variety of the other ones that they have printed as well.
Esther get her Cougar quilt bound, and it is stunning, this is a Call of The Wild print. We did have kits but they are sold out, however we are looking into kitting it again.
Her One Block Wonder quilt using a digital panel called Wanderlust is all finished up as well. There is a class on this in October, with options to attend for a full day or two evenings. This quilt is made with 7 repeats of the same panel and I love how intricate it looks, even though is it not difficult to make.
She also made this fall themed quilt (not a digital panel) but still very pretty, and kits are available so you can make it as well.
I have one more of Esther's quilts to share, this one uses the fabric line Catch and Release from Art Gallery and the pattern is called Making Waves. With some simple strip piecing this quilt goes together quickly, and is a lot easier then it looks. Kits are available for this one as well. I love the photo she took of it, it makes me want to pick up the quilt, snuggle up in that red chair with a cup of hot coffee and watch the sunrise. And it would be easy for me to do as this is right in her backyard.

Carrie made a quilt using the Globe Hopper panel and some ombre batiks. The pattern is called Reflections, and I think that it came together beautifully, it is currently hanging in a spot that you see it when you walk in the front door and it has definitely been an eye catcher.
She also made a quilt using the collection Grid, she made it for a friend so it isn't hanging in the store, but it is too pretty not too share. She is planning on making kits, but she got her wisdom teeth pulled yesterday so she is out of the shop for a few days.
One last quilt to share, this one is by Tammy, it is called Rock Candy and is made with a wide color range of Batiks. Isn't it fantastic?

There are even more quilts in store and loads of new fabrics as well.
Shop Hop is just a few weeks ago, and there is one week left to sign up so be sure to do so. If you can't make it in just give the shop a call during business hours, and we can set aside a passport with your name on it, than just make us your first stop so you can get your passport and continue on to the rest of the shops.
